The Suprêmes return with honors.
On the weekend of January 13th to the 15th, Les Suprêmes in the Juvenile, Novice and Junior categories travelled to Mississauga, Ontario to compete at the Figure Skating Boutique Winterfest 2012 competition. This competition represented, for the Junior team, their qualifier for the Junior World Challenge Cup which will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden from the 15th to the 17th of March 2012. Only the teams which finished in the top two spots would qualify to represent Canada at this event.
The competition started on Friday with the Novice and Junior teams presenting two solid performances. Both ended the night in first place. Now the pressure was on for the Novice team to repeat the same performance on Saturday. The Junior team, having skated their short program the day before, presented their free skating program. The pressure to remain on top did not get to either team since both were well prepared to offer a performance which showed their skating skills and level of training. They once again were able to finish in first place. Les Suprêmes Junior will be representing Canada at the Junior World Challenge Cup in Sweden as team Canada 1.
As for the Juvenile team, they had to face 12 teams in their category in order to reach the podium. After two solid performances on Saturday and Sunday, they finished in 3rd place receiving a bronze medal.
The next step for the Juvenile and Novice teams will be the Regionals Synchronized Skating Championships which will be held in Rivière du Loup from February 2nd to the 5th, 2012. As for the Junior and Senior teams, they will represent Canada at the French Cup in Rouen, France from February 2nd to the 4th, 2012.
